OUR STORY
At Ordinary Else, we believe the things you live with should earn their place.
Not simply for how they look, but for how they are made, who made them, and how long they will last.
where it began
Years spent inside the fashion and consumer goods industries gave our founder a close view of how everyday things are made, from large-scale manufacturing to smaller producers where craft, quality, and origin remain central.
That experience led to a different question: what it should take to make something well.
Not in response to the industry, but as a deliberate alternative, built to a different standard.
Craft, carried forward
The most meaningful things are made by human hands.
We work with artisans and independent makers whose skills are rooted in tradition, patience, and attention to detail. From hand embroidery to woven textiles, each piece carries the character of its maker.
These are not just methods of making. They are cultural expressions that risk being lost in a world built for speed and scale. They are worth slowing down for.
The People Behind It
All of our pieces are made in small workshops and local communities, where traditional skills are still practised and passed down through generations.
Behind every piece is a person. We work with partners who pay fairly, work safely, and value craft. Not as a policy, but as a starting point.
By staying close to the process and working in smaller quantities, we support these communities in a way that is fair, transparent, and built to last.
Made to Last
Every choice leaves a trace.
We favour natural materials and traditional techniques, chosen for how they wear over time, not how they follow trends. Subtle variations, irregularities, and texture are part of the process.
We do not make things for seasons. Our pieces are designed to move with you, to be worn, used, and returned to.
Durability is not a feature. It is built into everything we make.
A different approach
Not everything needs to be made. And not everything needs to be owned.
We work in smaller quantities with a clear sense of purpose behind every piece. Nothing is made speculatively. Nothing is intended for landfill.
It is a slower approach, but one that allows each piece to exist for a reason.
Where we go next
Ordinary Else began as a quiet shift in perspective.
We started with the home, where we found the right makers and materials to bring this idea to life.
As we expand into fashion and beyond, we do so carefully, working only with partners who meet the same standard. Every new category must earn its place.
